The pair received the oaths of office and patriotism oaths from mayor Jennifer Clason then received a two-hour overview of how the city is funded and operates.
That included a line-by-line discussion with city manager over revenue sources and how the city budget is prepared.
It was pointed out that the motel tax has been generating several thousand dollars that will be used for city tourism promotion and beautification. Graham said the changes in the parks board to encompass tourism as well will be using this funds to help entice visitors to the community.
