The road to Nichols Park is going to look a lot brighter soon.
Eddy Sires Thomas has plans to paint the concrete pillars and sloping sides to recognize Nichols Park and the rodeo history of the park.
She and  her sister, Eva Sires Coddington, were busy Tuesday painting a pair of sillouettes of cowboys with more in the works.
The concrete slopping side on the east will have a sunset motif with a sillouette of Jim Shoulders dominantly displayed. "I got permission from Sharon Shoulders to include him," she said.
Once that side is completed, she will be going across the roadway where Nichols Park will be featured. That will include the beach, bath house and playground as well as the ATV trails.
She said she is waiting for help washing off years of grime and dirt from the concrete embankment.
The project is being funded through donations of paint and materials with volunteer labor as well.
Donating to the work is Kennedy Lumber, Jeff Williamson, Jimmy Potter, Clarice Borin and Mike Doak. Helping her with the painting are Coddington and Jonathan Patriska.
