Rachel Lou Vaughn, a resident of Oklahoma City, and former resident of Henryetta, died Oct. 25, 2015 in Oklahoma City at the age of 90. Rachel was born Sept. 25, 1925 in Dewar to Gilbert Lewis and Martha Lee Russell Lewis.
Rachel grew up in Henryetta and attended Henryetta Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1944. Following high school, Rachel went to work for the telephone company working as an operator and remained in that capacity for approximately four years. While working with the phone company Rachel met the love of her life, and she was married to Harold Buster Vaughn Sept. 3, 1948 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Methodist church while living in Henryetta. She later worked as a licensed Realtor/Broker for many years.
Rachel is preceded in death by both her mother and father; a sister, Natrella Lackey; two brothers, Chester Lewis and James Lewis; and a grandson, Anthony Landers.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Vaughn of the home in Oklahoma City; two daughters, Lisa Hampton and husband Joe of Oklahoma City and Janet Langkop and husband Jim of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Luke Landers, Martin Hampton, Audrey Hampton, Joy Hampton, and Hope Hampton; by several cousins, other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing for Rachel will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
A funeral service for Rachel will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Stonefell Chapel, the former First Presbyterian Church location at 412 W. Division, in Henryetta with Rev. Mark W. Balthrop officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
