New Muscogee (Creek) Nation principal chief James Floyd will be taking office Saturday, Jan. 2.
The inauguration ceremony will be held at the Mvskoke Dome in Okmulgee at  at 10 a.m.
james floydFloyd is the former director of the Veterans Administration’s Jack C. Montgomery Medical Center in Muskogee and Ernest Childers Clinic in Tulsa. The 62-year-old Eufaula resident won election as principal chief in the Nov. 7 general tribal election.
Also to be installed will be second chief Louis Hicks. He was unopposed for that position. Prior to his election as second chief, Hicks worked for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation from 2007 to December 2011 as the Director of the Human Development Department. He lives in Okmulgee.louis hicks
Three new representatives were elected and one reelected to the National Council for Seat A in four districts: Darrell Proctor, McIntosh District; Del Beaver for the Okmulgee District; Randall Hicks, Okfuskee District; Rufus Scott, Tukvpvtce District and Robert Hufft, Tulsa District. Proctor and Hufft are incumbents.
A hymn singing and stomp dance will take place following the ceremony.
