Violet Lorine McLaughlin, a longtime resident of Henryetta, died March 10, 2016 in Henryetta at the age of 98. She was born Feb. 14, 1918 in Mellette, Okla., to Benjamin Franklin Burgan and Maude (Layman) Burgan.
Mrs. McLaughlin was baptized when she was very young at East Liberty Church east of Hanna. She married John J. Earl McLaughlin Nov. 24, 1935 in Hanna. She lived at Hanna for many years and moved to Henryetta in 1956 and has been a resident since then. She worked for a number of years at the Henryetta Senior Citizen Center. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Henryetta.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Franklin Burgan and Maude (Layman) Burgan, also her husband John Earl McLaughlin, one brother, Arie Burgan, two sisters Opeal Mooring, and Ruby Millsap, also an infant baby girl Dickey and infant baby boy Dickey.
She is survived by her children: Bennie Lee Best and husband Earnest of Eufaula, Annette Tyler and husband Ted of Clovis, New Mexico, Joan Dickey and husband Dale of Henryetta, and Lenora Grandel and Larry Glover of Katy, Texas; grandchildren: Karen Lee Best Sanders, Elizabeth Best Cochran, Gerald Best, Jr., Michael Dickey, Brandy Cunningham, and Christopher Best. also by a host of friends and other relatives
Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Integrity Funeral Service with family present to greet friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Jack Vance officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
