Enrollment has started for the East Central Electric (ECE) solar panel project.
When completed 950 solar panels will cover two acres at the ECE office in Okmulgee.
rec treesOriginally announced in January, the project will make the Okmulgee-based cooperative one of two in the state with solar generator facilities.
It is designed to provide a lower cost of electricity for members. The members can be a subscriber to one or as many as 25 solar panels for $350 per panel.
Once they subscribe, East Central will credit the member’s power bill with a percentage of the total solar production each month based on the number of panels to which the member is subscribed.
The program will also allow renters an opportunity to invest in the solar panel program.
The project was first announced at a Henryetta Lions Club meeting in January by board member Jim Hall.
Anyone wishing to enroll should call East Central at 918-756-0833.
