Around 15 pounds of marijuana worth some $35,000 is off the street following a seizure on I-40 Sunday evening.
Okmulgee County deputy Ethan Mulkey stopped a van for a traffic violation Sunday evening. The vehicle was said to be en route from Oakland, Calif., to Memphis, Tenn.
He said he saw a dog kenneled in a rear seat that had apparently not been fed or watered for some time.
That led to an investigation of the van where the marijuana was discovered.
Deontray Chainley, 29, and Jared Rockenback, 23, both of California, were arrested and booked into the Okmulgee County jail on complaints of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent and animal neglect. Chainley was also charged with driving under suspension.
The dog was taken to the Henryetta animal pound.
