It was impossible to get an exact count but around 1,000 people sat on lawn cahirs, blankets, tailgates and the rocks at Nichols Park Saturday night to watch the fireworks bang, boom and sparkle.
For the second year, Shane Sanford and the Highway 62 fireworks stand crew delighted area residents at the lake. This year the show lasted over an hour and well over 1,000 aerial displays.
Sanford has been disposing of his surplus fireworks for some nine years but moved the show to the lake after the crowd overwhelmed the space available at his site west of town. "This is our way of giving back to the town," he said before the show.
No charge is made for the display and spectators filled the parking area on the hill above the bath house as well as lined the beach and along the roadways throughout the lake.
For the first time, the show was streamed live by Thehenryettan.com.
