Ben Ray Haynes, a resident of Wetumka, died Dec. 20, 2017 in Henryetta at the age of 85. He was born Oct. 25, 1932 in Wetumka to Waldo Haynes and Mary (Renfrow) Haynes.
He married Norma Dearman Feb. 25, 1955 at the United Pentecostal Church in Okemah. He was a member of the Dewar United Pentecostal Church. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for many years. He served as President of the Wetumka Board of Education for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Wetumka American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, also by three brothers, Robert Haynes, Paul Haynes, and Jim Haynes.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma Haynes of the home; two children: Stephen Ray Haynes of Tahlequah and Pamela Putman and husband Jerry of Wetumka; two grandsons: Britton Putman of Wetumka and Brayden Putman of Wetumka; also by a host of friends and other relatives.
Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until noon Saturday.
Pallbearers will be, Britton Putman, Brayden Putman, David Dearman, Butch Dearman, Johnny Haynes, and Danny McEwin. Honorary pallbearers will be, Bill Williams, Wylie Whisman, Don Beasley and Craig Churchhill.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Dewar United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Matthew Martin and Rev. Gregg Joki, officiating. Interment will follow in Wetumka Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
