Friday, March 9 will be the final day anyone can register to vote in the special April 3 election.
That election is to see if a .0033 percent sales tax will be added to all purchases. Funds generated from that tax would be used to help finance fire departments throughout the county.
The election is open to voters of both parties said Ashley Carnes, Okmulgee County election board secretary.
Anyone who is not registered or need to change their registration may apply by filling out and mailing an Oklahoma Voter Registration Application form in time for it to be postmarked no later than Friday, March 9.
Carnes said applications postmarked after March 9th will be accepted and processed after April 3.
Oklahoma Voter Registration Application forms are available at the Okmulgee County Election Board office located at 314 W. 7th Street, Room 102 and at most post offices, tag agencies and public libraries in the county. Applications also are available at the Oklahoma State Election Board website, www.elections.ok.gov Voters who have questions may contact the Okmulgee County Election via phone (918) 756-2365 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
