Edmond Larue Slane, a longtime resident of Kinta, died March 10, 2018 in Kinta at the age of 80. Edmond was born April 24, 1937 in Dewar to Clarence "Radio" Slane and Mary Geraldine Cook Slane.
Edmond grew up in the Henryetta area, attending high school and graduating from Graham School. During his high school years Edmond worked for several years for Sherwood Grocery in Henryetta. Following high school, Edmond attended Northeastern Oklahoma State University on a track scholarship. Edmond lived for over 30 years in Kinta where he worked for approximately four years as a police officer in Kinta. Edmond spent over 30 years as a salesman for food companies. He was a knowledgeable handy-man and could fix almost anything. He was a respected longtime member of the Kinta Volunteer Fire Department where he worked as a first responder. Edmond was an accomplished musician and performed with several high profile musicians.
He is preceded in death by both his mother and father; his sisters, Perrylou Underwood, Sandy Coffman and Janice Kaler; his brothers, Billy Dean Slane, John R Slane, and Clarence "Junior" Slane.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Slane of Checotah; his son, Eddie Slane, Jr. of Hanna; a grandson, Jonathan Slane; grandchildren from his second marriage: Madison Wiggins, Blake Wiggins, Hadley Carpenter and great granddaughter, "Kia Kia" Wiggins; sister, Ann Mollett of Choctaw; three brothers: Steve Slane of Kinta, Jackie Slane of Oak Harbor, WA, and Charles "Spanky" Slane of Colombus, Georgia; as well as other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing for Edmond will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from noon until 8 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Scott Neese officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be David Mollett, Jerry Don Coffman, Stephen Story, Joe Mitchell, Charles Koren, Harvey Mize, and Blake Wiggins.
