Christine Harjo, a resident of Henryetta, died Dec. 18 in Henryetta at the age of 89. She was born Dec. 18, 1928 in Wetumka to Lewis Marshal and Mandy (Herron) Marshall. She worked as a cook at Graham #32 School for 34 years. She was a member of Hickory Ground #1 Church in Salem.
She is preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Harjo in 2001, also by a son, James Harjo, two grandchildren, Craig Bucktrot and Utah Johnson, six brothers and seven sisters.
She is survived by nine children: Drew Johnson and wife Mary of Wetumka, Mary Wagner and husband Steve of Wetumka, Frank Harjo of Salem, Mandy Harjo of Mounds, Karen Powell and husband Jerry of Wetumka, Anna Harjo of Okmulgee, William Harjo and wife Rosalie of Dustin, Ben Harjo and wife Joleta of Enid, and Judy Montiel and husband Eddie of Henryetta; 21 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren;
Also by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Viewing for will be Dec. 21 at Integrity Funeral Service from noon until 4 p.m. Procession will leave the funeral home at 4 p.m., Friday to Hickory Ground #1 Church.
Wake services are scheduled for 7: p.m. Friday, at Hickory Ground #1 Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018 at Hickory Ground #1 Church with Rev. Mitchell Taylor and Rev. Woody Fields officiating. Interment will follow at Mrs. Harjo's residence in Salem under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Harjo's grandsons, Greg Thomas, Kevin Bucktrot, Cameron Powell, Jon Harjo, Johnny Johnson, and Eddie Montiel. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Wagner, Frank Harjo, William Harjo, Drew Harjo, Ben Harjo and Steve Wagner.
