Henryetta's bank account was a little brighter this month following the latest sales tax check from the state.
After a disappointing April sales tax return, the town saw a big boost in May.
Henryetta received $223,340.32 this month, a gain of $18,222.57 from the previous year.
In April, the sales tax receipts were down $9,300 from the 2014 numbers.
That increase put Henryetta back on track to finish out the year ahead of 2014. So far this fiscal year from June, 2014 to now, the town has received $2,353,362 in sales tax money. A year ago at this time, the city had received $2,345,232.
The May distribution from the state is based on local tax receipts from March business.
Statewide, $138,741,504 was returned to 514 cities and towns. That was a $3.698 million increase from a year ago.
While the sales tax receipts were up substantially, the use tax return was down over $6,000 from 2014. This month the city received $4,086 compared with $10,988 last year.
