| There was a time when getting in your car with your best girl snuggled next to you and dragging Main was the thing to do. The radio was on and windows rolled down so you could wave and shout to your friends in the other lane. That memory is going to be recreated Saturday in Henryetta as Summer Cruise Knight gets underway. Everyone is invited to bring their hot rods, muscle cars and customized beauties downtown and show them off. Starting at 1, Classic Diner will be serving up hot dogs and the parking lot echoing with some of the Golden Oldies hits from a lot of years gone by. At 6 p.m. the motor heads will show off their mechanic skills at the burnout contest. It will be held next to Jiffy Mart and prizes will be awarded. From there on, downtown Henryetta will be turned into a two-block-long car show from Fourth to Sixth streets with vehicles parked and owners bragging about what they have done with their cars. At the same time, everyone will be cruising Main bringing back the days when that was the the Henryetta form of social media. If anyone gets hungry in the evening, the Henryetta Church of the Nazarene will be giving out hot dogs and bottles of water at Fifth and Main, |
