Larry Joe Soweka, a Henryetta resident, died Oct. 25, 2021 in Tulsa at the age of 75. He was born Dec. 20, 1945 to Jacob Soweka and Amanda Fields.
He was a retired Muscogee Creek Nation employee. He also attended the Ryal Community Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Priscilla Anderson and Evelyn Anderson and three brothers, Dwayne Scott, Charles Deer and Virgil Deer.
Survivors include his son, Terry Jason Soweka and wife Kim of Wilson; daughter, Alethea Johnson of Tulsa; one brother, Mike Deer and wife Leslie of Holdenville; four sisters: Verbena Woodward of Seminole, Sandra Leader-Simpson of Wewoka, Robin Deer of Glenpool and Mitzi Deer of Glenpool; five grandchildren: Nicole Soweka, April Fields, Ian Soweka, Kiara Johnson and Britton Johnson and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Hickory Ground #1 Indian Baptist Church south of Henryetta. Interment will follow at the Soweka Family Cemetery. Wake services will be Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah.
Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.
