Lady Knights shut out Meeker 11-0 in opening district game

The HHS Lady Knights became district champions in grand style Thursday with back to back run-rule wins over Meeker.

Senior Avery Miller chalked up three home runs during the afternoon. She went over the fence twice in the opening game that saw the Lady Knights blank Meeker 2209 in six innings. Another dinger in the first inning for two runs started the scoring for Henryetta in the second game.
A third inning solo home run by Meeker provided the only score for the Lady Bulldogs during the day.
Doing the pitching for Henryetta was Katelyn Dwiggins. She gave up a total of one run on 11 hits in the two games.
In the opening game the Lady Knights posted nine hits with eight RBIs out of 28 times at bat.
They would go to the plate 30 times in the second game picking up 14 hits and scoring 11 RBIs.
Five Henryetta batters, McKayla Greenhaw, Brooklyn Baughman, Shelby Kilhoffer, Kassidy Lee and Avery Miller, would get four hits in the two games. Kasedi Gobin was right behind them with three while Shannon Corkerin had two and Kinley Miller and Jaylynn Joslin each had one.
Those wins gave the Lady Knight a 25-4 season record and keeps them in third place in the 4A state ranks.
So far this year, Henryetta has not had any scores in the double digits posted against them. Henryetta has a total of 262 runs while allowing 100 during the year.
This set the stage for the regional tournament next week. Coach Ryan Swallow said there is a strong chance Henryetta would be the host field but he would not know until Monday.
