It took Henryetta city council members less than 10 minutes to conduct their July business Tuesday evening.
Even though Labor Day is still over a month away, council members gave their blessing to several events for that weekend.
Permission was given to the Labor Day committee to use the city property next to the football field for the carnival.
Also gaining approval was use of Nichols Park by American Exchange Bank for the Red, White and Q barbecue contest. That event drew nearly ten pitmasters to the park to compete for cash and prize awards. It will be held around the shelter house on the east side of the park.
Going along with the Labor Day celebration is the annual car show. That event sponsored by First Family Federal Credit Union brings nearly 100 classic and show car owners to town. For the past two years it has been held on the east side of the park with trophies and awards going to some of the best looking vehicles. Approval for that event to be held at the park was given unanimously by the county.
The town has received a contract from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce to help with Section 3 housing. The resolution needed to go along with the contract is a yearly requirement. That was approved unanimously.
June 30 marked the end of the 2021-22 fiscal year and council members approved five amendments to finish off the budget for that year. Those amendments affected the fire department, library, cemetery, parks and airport.
In the Municipal Authority portion of the meeting, the council paid $37,962.14 to the Oklahoma Water Resources Board for their monthly payment.
Also getting paid was a $2,199.50 bill from Myers Engineering for work on the planned water line from Ragan to Hudson streets.
