As it stands now, Henryetta voters will have a full ballot for the city election April 4.
electionEight people have tossed their names in the ring for the two council seats when the filing period closed at 5 Wednesday afternoon.
Ward 1 candidates include Bill Goodner, Steve Sanford, Annette Sisson and Greg Williams.
For Ward 2 the candidates are Shawn Buzan, Melissa Heminover, Christy Jeffcoat and Vernon Vanmeter.
Jeffcoat is the only incumbent council member in the race.
County election board secretary Ashley Carnes said the April voting is open to all residents within the Henryetta city limits no matter what ward they live in.
The April election is a winner take all with no runoff election to be held. In the event of a tie, the candidates and election board will meet and the winner’s name drawn from a hat.
The final candidate slate will be official at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10. Any protests must be filed with the election board by that time and, if a protest is filed, a hearing will be held at 9 a.m. in the district court room in Okmulgee Feb. 15.
Dewar voters will have to decide between Katie Quillin and Emily Ramirez for the town trustee office 3 position.
Amber Brison was the only person filing for that town’s office 1 position and will be seated automatically.
Beggs will see voters choosing between Don Goswick, Kenneth Lyons and Rick Mitchell for the ward 4 seat.
Emma Hill will be seated as city treasurer, Doris Tharp as city clerk and Rick Roberts as ward 2 council member.
