LaWanna Sue Jones, an Okmulgee resident, died June 19, 2023 in Okmulgee at the age of 58. She was born Sept. 11, 1964, in Claremore to Marianne Scott.
LaWanna graduated from Morris High School in 1982 and worked many years at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Okmulgee Indian Community Center and attended Belvin Baptist Church.
LaWanna is preceded in death by her father Terry Jones, Sr. and biological father Roy Elam.
She is survived by her mother Marianne Scott; siblings, Joanna Petree, Terry Jones, Jr., Bobby Elam, Kari Mocarn, and Shelly Merry; daughters Siadienia Joshua, Marian Beaver, and Danielle Beaver; grandchildren: Keyonce, Asia, and India Seals, Kayson and Kambrey Marshall, Cayden and McKenzie Stills, and Kialyn Harjo. She is also survived by her longtime companion Lloyd Beaver, all of Okmulgee.
A wake service will be held Sunday, June 25, 2023 starting at 4 p.m. at Belvin Baptist Church, 320 North Mission, Okmulgee. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 26, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Belvin Baptist Church with Reverend Jordan Knuho officiating. Burial will follow the service at Tallahassee Indian Cemetery, 11305 Celia Berryhill Road, Okmulgee.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Monahwee, Yommie Monahwee, Jr., Ayven Monahwee, Dre' Lewis, Jalen Monahwee, Marco Smith, Jr., Aaron Jones, and Shane Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Keyonce Seals, Cayden Stills, and Kayson Marshall.
