Mark Warren Downing, a former Henryetta resident living in Scottsdale, Ariz., died June 19, 2023 at the age of 75.
He was born in Fort Smith, Ark., and lived in Henryetta. He married Sherry Masters Oct. 6, 1967. He held several positions in the Cherokee Nation and was instrumental in negotiating the IHS self determination Act in 1993.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Reed-Culver Funeral Home, Tahlequah.
Funeral services will occur Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
Interment will be in New Home Cemetery, Peggs.
