Barbara Joy King, a resident of Okmulgee, died July 22, 2023 in Okmulgee. She was born Aug. 2, 1941 in Tulsa to Cleo Whitney and Opal Irene Burleson. She married Terry Boyd King of Tulsa Nov. 8, 1958.
During their marriage they lived in several towns in Oklahoma, they moved in 1980 from Weleetka to Okmulgee, where they continue to reside to date.
Barbara was a bookkeeper for multiple Construction companies, attorneys and small businesses in Okmulgee. She and her husband Terry owned and operated the Kings Thrifty Store on Mission, Rose Antique Mall on 6th street, then moved north of Okmulgee on 75 Highway. The mall was closed and she semi retired.
Barbara attended the Methodist Churches. She became a member of the Crossroads Church of Beggs and attended for 20 years. During this time, she served as a Falls Creek cook, and was a Sunday School Teacher for the 1st and 2nd grade.
Barbara was preceded in death by her mother and father, one brother and three sisters.
She is survived by her husband Terry King of the home; daughter, Gloria and Greg Ogle of Weleetka; sons: Terry King of Andrews, TX, David and Lynn King of Beggs,OK, Daniel King of Beggs, Boyd and Christina King of Twin Hills; nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Dee Ogle, Ryan King, Bodie King, Billy Ogle, Jacob King, Joseph Jones and Honorary will be Braxton Ogle and Riley Morgan
Visitation for Family and Friends will be Wednesday, July 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Crossroads Baptist Church in Beggs.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the Crossroads Baptist Church in Beggs, Ok with Brother Ben Taylor, officiating. Services are under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
