Henryettan MaKayla Journey Baxter will perform the National Anthem during the opening performance of the Jim Shoulders Living Legends Rodeo.
baxterShe will be part of the "Patriot Night" observance Sept. 5, the first night of the two-night event.
The Henryetta teen has performed in “CATS, the Musical” at the Theater Tulsa and in multiple other theatrical roles.  
She has trained under Ms. Susannah Brooks of the Barthelmes Conservatory and studied music theory under the guidance of Diane Marrow of the Barthelmes Conservatory as well as attended the Whitney’s School of Dance and since the age of 10 she has studied at the Actor Factory in Norman.  
She was selected as Miss La Petite 2006 Henryetta’s Labor Day Pageant and Little Miss Labor Day 2008.  In 2009 she was awarded first place at the Henryetta Talent Show.  In 2010, she was chosen by Tulsa’s Got Talent to sing the National Anthem at Tulsa Driller’s Stadium on Father’s Day.  
MaKayla is the daughter of Shan and Tammy Evans and the late Jared Baxter. She is the granddaughter of Martha Mitchell, Bonnie Owens, Mike and Janie Andrews and Linda and Ronnie Evans and great granddaughter of Cecil and Minnie Ruth Mitchell, Ellen Hughes, and Ron and Mary McAfee.
