For the seventh consecutive month Henryetta has seen an increase in sales tax returns.
The April check from the state Tax Commission amounted to $305,986.86. That was a $25,791 bump from the same month a year ago. So far this fiscal year that started July 1, the city has received $3,080,986 in sales tax revenues. That is an increase of $132,540 over the same seven months in the 2022-23 fiscal year.
The city’s use tax revenue also had an increase. This month it amounted to $37,246.59. That was up $8,319 from last year.
Neighboring Dewar received $16,795 from the state, a $565.25 increase from a year ago.
Okmulgee’s city treasury picked up $669,185, a drop of $11,211 from last year.
The decline in sales tax receipts was also felt in Morris, Checotah and Weleetka.
Statewide $192,788,971 in sales tax collections came back to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $5,376,949 from the $187,412,022 distributed to them in April last year.
