A 25-year-old Henryetta man will be spending two years in federal prison after he was convicted of child abuse.
Zion Alexander Canard was found guilty after his trial in federal court in Muskogee last August. In addition to the two year prison sentence, he was ordered to undergo five years of supervision.
Canard was charged with abusing an infant he was caring for in 2022. That abuse was said to have left the infant suffering from a brain hemorrhage, lacerations, and bruising. It was said to have happened in Hughes County.
The Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police, the Tulsa Police Department, the Glenpool Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation worked together in the case.
